Clinical RN - Odessa, TX--Position Summary:
Functions as a staff nurse under the guidance and supervision of an experience R.N.-- Performs routine patient care assignments and carries out established nursing procedures utilizing the nursing process.
--Education:
Hold a current Texas permit or license as a Registered Nurse.-- BSN preferred.
B. Training and Experience:
1. One year experience in acute care setting preferred.
2. Current BLS certification required.
3. Successful completion of hospital and nursing orientation within 3 months of hire.
4. ACLS certifications within 6 months of hire or transfer to department.
5. PALS certification within 6 months of hire or transfer to department
6. EKG course within one year of hire or transfer to department.
7. Complete the following competencies within 3 months of hire or transfer to department:
-- Lab order entry
-- Documentation
-- IV therapy
-- Unit safety
-- Body substance isolation
-- Handling controlled substances
-- Role in Code Blue
-- Admitting patients to the unit
8. Outpatient PACU staff:
-- Understanding anesthesia agents
-- Understanding reversal agents
-- Planning care of the patient
-- Implementation of care
-- Arrythmia recognition
-- Role in Code Blue
-- Pacemakers
-- Respiratory needs of patients
-- Neurological system
-- Musculoskeletal system
-- Medication decision making
-- PACU equipment
-- Evaluation of care
